Scholars and practitioners around the world use the word complex when they talk about things they cannot control or understand. At one level, this can be useful, but it can also be confusing.
Successful collaborations are coherent. They share foundations while they celebrate autonomy. This tension of individual and shared identity can be challenging to balance. It is easy to advise groups to focus on common ground, think about sustainability, consider collective impact. But, anyone who has tried it can tell you these are not easy things to do.

In human systems, difference holds the energy for change. Adaptive Action helps you use that energy to navigate difference in human systems. Many approaches to equity and diversity generate fear. They sap energy from individuals and communities. In HSD, we offer an approach that transforms energy of difference into possibility. Set conditions for individuals to participate fully in the community of the future: Stand in inquiry; Grant and generate voice; Focus on differences that make a difference; Care for healthy boundaries.
